At the top of Monte Lagazuoi, tunnels and trenches from over a hundred years ago waited for us. We hiked down a path once used by Italian soldiers – except we had four kids and a thermos of tea with us.

A night drive across half of Europe, an Alpine lake for breakfast, and a road with views that take your breath away – this is how our 2018 summer holiday began.

A May holiday at Lake Garda in a mobile home at Bella Italia campsite? Open pools, warm weather, and attractions just minutes away – all for a fraction of the summer price. Here is how we spent a week in Peschiera del Garda with four kids.

Gardaland – a full day of fun, water surprises around every corner, and a massive storm that chased us out of the park. What is it like to visit the biggest theme park in Italy?

Venice with four kids and a stroller? Water trams, narrow streets, countless bridges and stairs – a day trip from our Lake Garda campsite that gave us memories for years to come.

A three-week road trip through the Balkans with four kids. Seven countries, 5,000 km, a tent, and a blue Ford full of adventures – from waterfalls in Bosnia, through wild Albania, to the turquoise lakes of Croatia.

Vienna wasn’t our last stop because of palaces or opera. It was because Justynka had been dreaming about giant pandas for a long time. And in Vienna, there are pandas.

We left Klenovica heading north and ended up at a campsite just outside Zagreb. An artificial lake, rented kayaks and a quiet evening by the water – that’s how we closed our Croatian chapter.

Turquoise water, cascades tumbling between sixteen lakes, and wooden boardwalks winding above the surface. Plitvice Lakes are views you don’t forget in a hurry – even if you have to share them with crowds of tourists.

Krka National Park is one of those places that makes an impression from the first moment. Wooden boardwalks lead you literally across the water, between cascades and reed islands. And back in 2017 you could still jump straight into the waterfall.
