To Albania through Montenegro

In the morning, after breakfast, we started our journey. We were in Bosnia, next to Tara river.

Just a few kilometers from the campsite, we crossed the border into Montenegro. The border crossing was at the bridge in Šćepan Polje. Wooden bridge over the river Tara.

Next, the road led along a picturesque route, the canyon of the Piva River. The views were amazing, and we especially liked the turquoise color of the water. When we got to Plužine, we decided to find a place to swim and spend some time in the water.

we found a small playground on the shore of the lake, where we spent a short while

It was very hot so we didn’t last long.

We continued on our way.

Our plans had changed a bit, because we originally wanted to go along the Tara River and have an overnight stay in Montenegro. However, due to the mountainous nature of the route and the relatively slow pace of the journey, we decided to modify the route in favor of two nights in one place in Albania.

This meant one thing, that we would pass through Montenegro in one go, driving through Podgorica.

That summer was very hot, and you could see it everywhere. We were not surprised, for instance, that where a nice waterfall was supposed to be, we saw this:

Finally, we reached the border crossing with Albania and entered our road trip’s final destination. The first stop in Albania was planned in Shkodër. We stayed at Camping Legjenda, a small campsite on the hillside near the ruins of Rozafa Castle.

The best part of the campsite was the swimming pool, where we spent all day.
