A chance reunion with Ania’s cousin, ten degrees cooler than Albania, and one of the best-preserved medieval port towns on the Adriatic. We stopped in Trogir for a few hours – and it was hard to leave.

We entered the city center of Durrës, where palm trees and hot air greeted us. We had a day of sightseeing ahead of us. Traffic in the city was heavy; finding a parking spot was a miracle. The first attraction…
