Le Chêne Gris campsite near Paris - a Eurocamp mobile home and days of rest
The Le Chêne Gris campsite was our base near Paris during our May holiday in 2019. It is about 50 km east of central Paris and about 25 km from Disneyland, and there is a railway station with trains to Paris right outside the gate. We stayed here for a week in a mobile home booked through Eurocamp.
After two very busy days, sightseeing in Paris and a visit to Disneyland, we decided to rest and stay at the campsite on 1 and 2 May. The full day-by-day plan of the trip is in our post May holiday in France with kids.
A mobile home instead of a tent
A year earlier, for our May holiday at Lake Garda, we swapped our tent for a Eurocamp mobile home for the first time, and we really liked it. So this time we chose a mobile home again, with a bathroom, a kitchen and separate bedrooms.
We arrived at the campsite on Sunday, 28 April, after two days on the road from Poland, with a night at Bruchhäuser Mühle in Germany.
What you will find at Le Chêne Gris
The campsite was a good base for day trips. When we were there, it had:
- an outdoor pool with slides and a paddling pool, and an indoor pool,
- a shop and a restaurant,
- an entertainment tent for evening shows,
- several playgrounds and an indoor play area,
- activities for kids.
The railway station is right next to the campsite, and a motorway junction is nearby, so it is easy to get to Paris and to the theme parks: Disneyland and Parc Astérix.
Our kids show you around the campsite. With a map in their hands, they show you our mobile home, the reception, the playgrounds, the terrace with kids' activities and the pools:

Two days of rest
First we tried the pools. The campsite has an outdoor pool with slides and an indoor pool, but in early May the water in both was so cold that only some of our family's winter swimmers dared to go in.

The kids' activities were much more popular. On the wooden terrace the kids danced with the entertainers and other children from the campsite. Between the activities there was time for drawing in the mobile home, for the playgrounds and for simply doing nothing, which we really needed after Paris and Disneyland.

We also went for a short walk around the area, in the valley of the Grand Morin river, with no special plan and no hurry.
Fun fact: the nearby small town of Faremoutiers has very old roots. Around the year 620, Saint Fara founded a monastery here, and the name of the town comes from her name and an old French word for monastery.
Well rested, on 3 May we went to Parc Astérix.
Practical info
- Address: Iris Parc Le Chêne Gris, 24 Place de la Gare, 77515 Pommeuse, right next to Faremoutiers - Pommeuse station.
- Train to Paris: Transilien line P goes to Paris-Est station in about 50-55 minutes, with trains about once an hour. It is a good alternative to driving into the city (as of November 2026; check the timetable on SNCF Connect).
- Disneyland: about 25 km, less than half an hour by car, unless you get stuck in the morning queue for the car park.
- Parc Astérix: about 67 km, for us about 1 hour 15 minutes by car.
- Booking: the campsite is offered by Eurocamp, which we used to book our mobile home.
