Legendia with kids - a day in the Silesian amusement park

Is Legendia in Chorzow good for younger children? Yes: besides the roller coasters there are lots of calmer rides, from a horse carousel and spinning cups to boats, slides and a Ferris wheel with a view of the Silesian Park. We spent a whole sunny day here in August 2020, and in the evening we drove to Molo Resort in Osiek for two nights by the water.

Legendia, the former Silesian Amusement Park

On Monday 10 August we had about 30 km from our campsite in Tarnowskie Gory to Chorzow. Legendia is the oldest amusement park in Poland. It opened in 1959 as the Silesian Amusement Park. Today it has several themed zones around the Kozlok pond, and since 2017 a new name.

Behind the gate we first looked at the map of the park, and then we started with the horse carousel and the spinning cups.

Rides for the whole family

In Legendia everyone found something for themselves:

• the youngest rode in a big duck and on the carousels,
• the older kids chose chain swings and small coasters,
• in the boats with steering wheels the kids steered by themselves, and we had a lot of laughs,
• we went down a wide slide with colourful lanes together with the kids,
• along the paths we met the colourful mascots of the park.

At the end of the day we rode the Ferris wheel. From the top you can see the whole park, the pond and the blocks of flats of Chorzow.

Molo Resort in Osiek

From Chorzow we drove 50 km to Osiek near Oswiecim, to the Molo Resort campsite. The campsite is by the water and has a sandy beach. In a tent on the beach there was a huge inflatable slide. It was 2020, so next to the slide there was a bottle of hand sanitiser.

Tuesday 11 August was a rest day after a week of rocks, mines and sightseeing. We went nowhere and spent the whole day at the campsite. On Wednesday we were on the beach again until noon, and the beach was full of people.

Fun fact

The fastest coaster in Legendia, Lech Coaster, is 40 m high and reaches 95 km/h. It opened in 2017.

• Tickets: cheaper online than at the ticket office. Today a 2+2 family ticket in summer costs PLN 483 online and PLN 553 at the ticket office.
• Parking: on Zlota Street, PLN 20 per day.
• Time: plan a whole day.
• Campsite: Molo Resort in Osiek has a beach, a kayak and pedal boat rental, and cabins.
