Adrspach with kids - a waterfall, a boat and a rock town
How long does it take to visit Adrspach with kids? The official loop around the Adrspach Rock Town is 3.5 km long, but with a boat trip on the rock lake and stops at the waterfall we spent the whole day there, from the morning to early afternoon. It is crowded here in August, so it is worth buying tickets for a set time online the day before.
The day before we walked around the neighbouring Teplice Rocks. This is our 2020 holiday, described day by day in the post Summer holidays in Poland with kids 2020.
Morning at the station in Adrspach
On Wednesday 5 August it was only 6 km from Kamenec campsite in Teplice nad Metuji to Adrspach. The entrance to the rock town is right next to a small railway station, so you can also get here by train. We were there before nine, and there was already a queue at the ticket office. The day promised to be hot, so the early start paid off.

The Great Waterfall
Past the entrance, the trail leads between tall rocks to the Great Waterfall (Velký vodopád). The water falls 16 m into a narrow gap. It is the outflow of a rock lake that lies higher up, so the flow is regulated. At the waterfall we took a photo of the whole family together, and then we climbed the steep stairs up the gap.

Our daughter said they were "the coolest stairs she had ever seen". No wonder: they are narrow, steep and lead straight between vertical walls.
A boat trip on the rock lake
At the top a green lake surrounded by rocks is waiting. Flat boats sail on it, and the boatman tells stories about the rocks during the trip. Ours spoke a mix of Czech and Polish, with a great sense of humour. From his stories we remember that the lake lies at about 540 m and never freezes, because in November the water is let out of it.
In the past the lake was used for floating cut trees, and tourists have been sailing on it for over 150 years. For the kids the boat trip was the best part of the day: short, in the shade of the rocks, and with stories that made the adults laugh too.
Crowds in the gorges and a viewpoint
After the boat trip the trail goes back through the gorges towards the exit. At noon, in the narrowest places, we walked in a long line of tourists. We rested on a bench with a snack, and at the end we climbed to a viewpoint from which you can see the rock towers above the forest.

The youngest walked the whole trail on her own legs, without being carried. When we asked her later how many stairs there were, she answered shortly: "A lot."
The Adrspach part is in the video from the whole Table Mountains area:
Fun fact
The Adrspach Rock Town has been a nature reserve since 1933. The path to the lake runs along the waterfall, and the lake itself can only be reached from the paid trail.
Next: Szczeliniec Wielki
The next day we moved to the Polish side of the Table Mountains and climbed Szczeliniec Wielki: Szczeliniec Wielki with kids.
